Summer Camp for Ages 7-16

Your camper will bunk in one of our 16 cabins, each housing approximately 10 children of the same age and gender, plus two college-age counselors. Boys and girls each have their own central washrooms. All meals are prepared on-site and served in the lakeside dining hall.

Our college-age staff includes many international counselors, and all are thoroughly trained, certified, and ready to have a great time! Their greatest skill is promoting new friendships.

See below for new camps and programs for 2010!

Summer Mini-Camp for Ages 5 - 10

Mini-camp is a 4 day and 3 night experience at camp designed for our younger and first-time campers. It is the perfect way to introduce your camper to the outdoors and find out what it is like to go away to summer camp. The first day of camp will be full of games, tours, get-to-know-you activities, a campfire, and other activities focused around making sure your camper knows the ropes and feels comfortable and safe. For two full days at camp your camper will experience a small dose of each of the traditional activities we have at camp including rock climbing, swimming, boating, fishing, archery, arts and crafts, adventure hikes, sports, and more!

Summer Pioneer Unit for Ages 14 – 16

The Pioneer Unit (or PU, as we like to call it!) is a new, two-week program at Camp Pinewood for the summer of 2010.  The PU is a great option for those older campers who would like to have more responsibility and more adventure added into their Pinewood experience.  It is also a great step toward Pinewood’s Leader-in-Training program.

Here are some highlights of the Pioneer Unit program:

  • 3 days and 2 nights dune-camping in Muskegon State Park
  • A one day canoe trip down the Muskegon River
  • A class on shelter building, including one night staying in a shelter you build!
  • Midnight Movie Madness!  Outdoor movie projected under the stars!
  • Teambuilding and leadership training designed specifically for 14-16 year olds.
  • Access to all of Pinewood’s programs, including ropes courses, climbing, sailing, and more!
